KC Hamilton Engineering has recently completed the design of a portable wastewater system for Marathon Oil Company. The system was located on one of their drilling sites on the Western Slope of Colorado associated with the oil-shale drilling in the area. The system pictured below is sized for an average daily flow of 2,000 gpd with a peak flow of 3,000 gpd. These flows are the maximum permitted by Garfield County. The system consists of two 20-foot shipping containers housing a Membrane Bio-Reactor, Controls, Disinfection, and Storage of teh finished water. The effluent from this system will be used for down-hole drilling, boiler makeup water, and onsite dust control. The system was designed and constructed for harsh winters with temperatures as low as -40 F.
The OWS is shown above.
Typical results are:
5-Day BOD < 5 mg/l
TSS < 5 mg/l
fecal Coliform = Low MPN/100ml, usually Zero.
